The primary way I have seen and done it myself to translate applications on the Java Desktop and Server platforms is with files with the extention dot properties. The structure is very simple - there is a key on left part of every line, equal sign and the value on the right. There are several files with almost the same name except the language code before the .properties
To show how to generate property files by my Translate Application, I will use a list from a previous example.
So go to the setup tab. In there put a check on the Java Properties Files.
In Local Directories to Write To I’ll write this dummy path.I’ll place a Checkbox on Auto Generate And I’ll save the list.
After the list is updated I’ll click Generate And i’ll switch to the directory. As you can see THere are 56 files – the default translation and all the languages that the application supports.
